I sprinkle baking soda on the grease build-up, dampen it slightly and let it sit for a bit. Then clean with hot water and a sponge.

The baking soda feels gritty, but it is not abrasive enough to scratch the stove-top.

You could use baking soda to remove grease without abrasion if you use a soft cloth or sponge. make a past of baking soda and water, put it on and let it set a few moments than just wash it off. Its non toxic and cheap.

Ammonia is excellent for cutting into heavy grease but the fumes are horrendous. Do not wear a mask using ammonia as I tried that and it seemed the fumes penetrated the mask and made it harder to breath.

I have also used simple green and/or Clorox water which works well enough for regular grease.

I have used oven cleaner on my gas stove top with great results. Spray it on, let sit for about 30 min, then use a wet scrubber sponge to clean it off. I've also used a mr. clean magic eraser alone & it also works very well with no abrasives.

theres this cleaner you can get at the dollar store called bartender's friend. my aunt uses it to clean her glass flat stovetop. just pour it on the stove, add some water so that its pasty and let it sit for 5-20 minutes. use a sponge or towel to wipe off/scrub and you'll be good to go

I would think anything with a citrus base would be able to cut through the grease quite well, or at least enough for you to be able to use a clothe or chamis to remove the rest.

I swear by pumice. It feels gritty but is actually smooth. I buy it at the hardware store. Just put abit of water on the stove and start scrubbing. Its great!
