You have a leak somewhere in your coolant system. Warm up the car by driving it around until it starts smoking (maybe 10 minutes), then stop the car and open the hood, and LOOK to see where the smoke (actually, it's boiling water vapor) is coming from. Could be something as simple as a hose. Worse would be a radiator or water pump. Normally it's just a hose, and usually where they connect to the other parts (radiator, water pump, thermostat housing, etc) of the cooling system.

Sounds like you have a leak in the cooling system and you ran low on coolant and now the engine is overheating. Do not use the car or run the engine. You can do more damage. Tow it to a repair shop where they can pressurize the cooling system and locate and repair the leak. You can have a crack in the radiator, a leaking hose or a defective water pump. All of these will cause engine damge if not taken care of right away. You may or can blow a head gasket if you continue to run the engine at high temps.
good luck................
