Well, I am glad to see that you have asked this question in more appropriate categories. I'm sure you know, if you have studied the facts, that the HIV virus doesn;t care what your race, gender, age, or sexual orientation is.
I think that any group that does everything it can to ban birth control and safer sex devices can be held partially responsible. Combine this with a lack of proper sex education and you compound the problem.
However, stopping the spread of HIV/AIDS is everyone's responsibility. Everyone needs to value themselves enough to make sure that no unwanted unsafe sex occurs - anywhere, at any time.
I cannot blame an individual's irresponsibility on an organized group, no matter how much that group might have done to worsen the education problem.

Interesting article and I would have one comment to it: not all religious groups are responsible for the AIDS epidemic. The AIDS epidemic started in Western Africa, so one would think that this is where the highest rates of disease would be. No. Among the Muslim population in those countries the prevalence of AIDS is low. One of the first countries where AIDS was reported, the 90% Muslim Mali, now has one of the lowest rates of AIDS disease in Africa. On the other hand, AIDS was diagnosed in the majority Christian Ivory Coast at the same time, and this country currently suffers from one of the highest incidences of AIDS on the continent. IMHO the reason: Catholics / christians are hypocrites. Their dogma is do not have sex till you're married and then only have sex with your wife/husband and sex is meant for procreation purposes only. The result: plenty of extracurricular activity and "screwing around". The Muslim philosophy tells men: okay, so if you want a woman, you have to marry her. In fact, take as many wives as you want, but all get equal treatment. So if a man really does want to have more sex than his wife wants and he can afford to do it, he becomes a polygamist. In terms of potential for STD, the relationship circle remains closed. And on the women's side, they will not enter into relations with a man without getting married. There is also plenty of control, spying, reputation and stigma at stake so that this will remain the case. Whether or not this is fair is one thing, but it has been helpful in preventing the spread of AIDS.

Not in the least. I think the reason that so many people have it, because the medical community does not want to cure it, like cancer. It is a big money maker.
And the reason that AIDs is so rampant? I feel it is a military bio-weapon that got loose and is out of control.

No.
Judeo-Christian tradition has taught for thousands of years:
1. Single people should be celibate.
2. Married people should be faithful to each other (adultery is wrong).
3. Married couples should welcome God's gift of children and, therefore, artificial birth control is against the will of God.
If the world is going to ignore teachings about chastity (1 & 2), then why is the world so upset about teaching artificial birth control (3)?
People who are already ignoring the more important teachings about chastity (1 and 2) should have no problem ignoring the less important teaching of artificial birth control (3).
Even if a person infected with AIDS was to use a condom to help protect his or her spouse, condoms are not 100% effective (read the box) and the spouse may be infected and die anyway. A person who truly loves their spouse would not endanger them in this way.
In regards to sex outside of marriage, the Church makes it a practice not to tell people how to sin. Fornication with or without a condom is still fornication. Adultery with or without a condom is still adultery.
With love in Christ.

No. It's unsafe sex, intravenous drug use, blood transfusions, etc. I don't believe Churches control the spread of HIV/AIDS.

Mo, I wouldn't say completely but they definitely have a good part of the responsibility for its spread.

ROFLMAO!!!
At the WORST the Catholic Church is responsible only for telling folks to be responsible and respectful of sexual activity, without giving in to pressures that would make sexual activity outside marriage more acceptable.
Think of it this way, if folks would LIVE the lessons of the Church (NO sex outside of marriage) in TWO GENERATIONS all STDs, including AIDS (with the exception of those spread via illegal drug use) would be GONE.

Funny. In the '80, it was Reagan who gave everyone AIDS, now it's the Church. When will it be another group you so very much hate?
The Church gave no one AIDS. AIDS is given through exchange of fluids.
Accept responsibility.

If the Catholic Church was responsible for AIDS (which I doubt) they would only be responsible for the Catholic people who have AIDS.
