No - you should not experience pain when using a tampon.
If you have a really light flow, the tampon will absorb moisture from the vaginal walls & cause irritation or an imbalance in the protective mucuous coating. This could lead to toxic shock syndrom.
Switch to a pad until you can consult a doctor. A qualified MD or gynocological nurse can help you find the tampons with the approrpriate absorbancy and explain now to insert them properly.

Ye its normal its a new experience for your body you caan imagine if you have never had anything inserted up there before it bound to feel a bit uncomfortable, but if you do still feeling inner pain due to the tampon I would proberly remove it and mention it to the doctor just incase, its better to be safe then sorry. Good Luck

I don't know if it's normal. I do know it happens to me and I'm an adult female who is not a virgin. I've had one on and have been out of the house have gotten sick like nausea and pain. Once I take it out I feel better. So I only use them once in awhile and for a short time. Meaning a few hours at the most. 2 to 3 other wise I feel sick and discomfort.

Maybe your period flow is too light for the tampon absorbancy you have. Try a lower absorbancy or a pantyliner if your flow is that light. Otherwise its a bad idea if you are feeling pain. I sometimes feel pains when inserting tampons... thats when I just give myself a break and wear a pantyliner and try again later.

You can always put a little vasaline on the tip of the tampon. It's horrible when it hurts. If it continues to hurt speak to your doctor about it. Good luck.
