i live in south florida for reference. and i found this near the lake in my neighborhood's park.

i was thinking it could be a crocodile or alligator skull, half of it at least, but i've been told by an expert on reptiles that it is not. so i'm trying to figure out what it is or what i should do to figure out what it is. thank you.

From the backbone at the top and bottom, I'd say it's a pelvis of something narrow - because it looks so fragile, I'd put my money on some kind of large-ish bird. Maybe a Heron or Egret.

It's hard to tell with no scale. How large is the item? If it were me I would take it to the closest university biology/zoology department to find out. I live in Central Florida so I would take it to USF in Tampa, where I went to school. If you live in South FL as in Miami, I would take it to UM.
