If you believe evolution.....
An evolutionary predecessor to the chicken layed an egg with a mutation in it that grew to be a chicken. The chicken's ancestor is logically "not a chicken", hence the egg is first.
If you believe in Creation......
Chapter 1, verse 21 of Genesis says in the creation of the world about the creation of "every winged bird according to its kind" which of course means the birds were created before the eggs hence the chicken came first.
The answer is dependent on your religious opinion.
