I would imagine that most companies pretty much do as the please, and that's not unusual.. It doesn't mean it's fair, in spite of some of the answers you've already gotten.. It would probably be better to contact a lawyer, unless, of course, your company has a handbook which states that they will not, (or do not,) tolerate any kind of drug use, and, while your offense is two years old, they can hold to their policies, as long as CA law does not prohibit it.. Of course, the burden of proof will be on you..

Seriously, quoting fox news as a reliable source. Let's think about this. Hard, I know, for a fox junky. But Obama proposed a bill to fix the infrastructure - and create jobs and stimulate the economy. But guess who blocked the bill from ever coming to a vote. That's right, the GOP. This is their damn fault.

Yup. No law says they have to promote you.
Pot isnt a recognized disability so there is no law that says you must hire and promote X number of potheads

if when you were hired you disclosed this information then no they can't, they would have had to let you know at the time of hiring that this would affect you being promoted or raises, if it was such a big thing, that they would not give you a raise then they should not have hired you because of it. they can't hire you knowing this and then say because of it we wont promote you or give you a raise.

they can do whatever they damm well please...probably falls under the "law abiding, no drug" policy many companies have.. consider yourself lucky you even get to work with this conviction...in a lot of other countries you would be either jailed , fined heavily...as in having all your possessions taken...or even executed.... besides...what profit making company wants to carry your dope smokin' *** on the books as a charity case when you get so stoned you cant do your job right...
