It is, but both there has to be clear boundaries, or it is likely that they will slip into something more. If there's no good reason that they shouldn't get involved romantically, then one of them will probably eventually try it. If that doesn't work, then sometimes they might go back to friendship, and keep that for a long time.
It's also possible between two people with an age difference of something like half-a-dozen years -- you get kind of an older-younger sibling relationship.

yes it is possible, most of my friends are guys. My best friends are guys, and we are only friends.
My two best friends are guys, Nicolas and Junior, and we have known each other since 2nd grade, that is 11 years now. We have been best friends, and it has been a true friendship
