It depends on what type of class action suit and some have statue of limitations for filling the action at a court house but not for it to be heard in the courts or for it to be settled. As long as it has be opened before the statues of limitations expired.

More like in dog years....can take a long long long time depending on the size and the amount of fight in the defendant organization.
