To be seen in public wearing a Burka?

And isn't Nancy's a little more stylish than the plain black Laura wore?

SicialD don't act so naive as to imply the 1st lady in her role as such does not represent our country when she goes over seas, that's just foolish

It isn't. I haven't clicked your post, but as a conservative(not to be confused with repub.) I would be ridiculing her right along side you if I had seen Laura in a burka.
Banshee Pelosi DOES however deserve the riducule I and others heap on her. In her acceptance speech she passionately spoke of women's rights. It is demonstrable hypocrisy that she would fly to that country, (where for all intents and purposes will have no effect) and wear a symobol of clear and obvious oppression of women in that unfortunate nation. I was half expecting her to start baking cookies for him at any second.
Look, I understand the angle of respecting the nation, and don't actually argue it. But by putting that on she took a submissive stance to a man. That man also happens to be a leader in a nation, and in a faith that wants the USA off the map.
That said, Mrs Bush's doing so sits absolutely no better with me. The margin at which I believe the Republicans are superior to Democrats thins every day.

Good question.
People don't realize that it is considered obscene for a woman to show her hair in that country; THAT is the reason for the veil, not to show American submission.
It would be like a female foreign diplomat coming to this country and refusing to wear clothing to see the President; insisting on meeting with him naked. It is considered THAT obscene.
Laura Bush understands too; when one is a guest in another country, one does not deliberately insult one's host.
George Bush would do the same thing if showing men's hair was considered obscene, too. He would HAVE to.

First, I don't think that's considered a burka. Secondly, who said it wasn't ok for Nancy to wear one? It's too bad Nancy doesn't wear a real burka that would cover her face and her big mouth.

Because the liberal bias of the media is a lie. The media is conservative and panders to corporate interests and the GOP.
