boric acid is really the best
when the roaches crawl through it, it is as if they are crawling through broken glass.
Boric acid is not expensive. You can find it at Home Depot for a couple of bucks. They even sell the kind with roach pheromone in it or the kind with sugar in it to attract the roaches to it. I personally do not recommend this type--after all, you already HAVE roaches, so you are not trying to ATTRACT more! or attract other bugs-ants!
You can also buy 20 mule team borax on the laundry aisle. It is a laundry booster, but it is mostly boric acid.
The best thing about boric acid is that it is probably the safest pesticide you can use in your home. Even if a child eats it, it won't hurt the child ---not that a child would because I am sure it tastes chalky, but still, good to know.
Good luck and happy roach killing!

Sugar And Baking Soda
Baking soda is predominately used as a rising agent in baking. The same properties that cause baking soda to act as a rising agent can be used to produce a sufficient enough degree of gas in a roach s stomach to kill it from the inside. The sugar draws the roach in.
Mix equal amounts of baking soda and sugar, and leave small piles of the mixture where the roaches have infested. Again, this will be dark areas where foodstuffs and crumbs are found, as well as water sources in the house. Roaches will feed on the sugar, and eventually die from extreme internal gastrointestinal distress. As with any homemade roach trap, results will not be seen immediately, but there will be a noticeable difference within days.

So far so good.. I mixed a batch of baking soda and sugar in a cup and placed it into my kitchen cabinets and under the sink. Dark places where the roaches have typically been. I did that three days ago and have not seen a roach since. They were walking on my kitchen counter every time I put the light on. IM thinking the roaches have been eating the sugar and baking soda and getting ready to die.. Fingers crossed.

I don't think baking soda will kill roaches, but Boric acid will. It is very inexpensive, and you can find it at the Dollar store. It might not be labeled Boric Acid, but you can check the active ingredients, to make sure you get the right thing. It should be under $3 for a bottle, it is a powder.

A mixture of 1/2 baking soda and 1/2 sugar works! I had a problem with American Cockroaches and after a couple of days, all I have seen are dead ones. It definitely works, so do yourself a favor and give it a try.

I've heard that boric acid works but not baking soda. Also heard that laying down some diatomacious earth (same stuff used in some pool filters) works. But must keep away from pets and children.

No baking soda won't kill those yucky things. Call an exterminator or spray your house in every crack and crevise with bug spray for killing roaches specifically. This is not good for you though.

yes baking does kill roaches I have used it for 20 years and nothing else. My home is roach free. It kills them cause it gives them gas and roaches can not belch or fart so it causes their stomachs to explode. I don't care if anyone believes me or not I know that's all I use and have no bug problems.

I have never heard that baking soda kills roaches. I do know that cucumber juice sprayed on them is the equivalent of napalm hitting you.
You can even find the juice (along with gardenia oil that has the same effect on scorpions) at a number of retailers specializing in organic solutions.
