Have you tried a steel hinged knee support? They do an amazing job of taking your weight off of the knee joint and eliminating pain.

Call the airline about the cane. But do try the hinged knee support. Not the elastic ones. The hinged one Velcros on snugly above and below the knee to transfer the weight to the upper and lower leg.

yes you can as i travel with one the airsturdess will locker it for you once you get on board and sat down.
or they may want you to go in a wheelchair if they put your stick with your luguage
