After years of back and neck pain I am finally moving forward with getting a breast reduction. I am (hopefully) going to go from a G cup to a C cup.

Can anyone give me an idea of what to expect before, during, and after the surgery? How much it hurts? Costs? Satisfaction with life after the surgery?

I went from a J cup to a C cup and my only regret is not getting it done sooner.

You should see at least three PS's before choosing the one you want to go with. Make sure they are covered under your insurance plan or you will pay more out of pocket.

You will be off two weeks for recovery and on light duty for about a month before you can resume normal activities.

I personally did not have any pain, and my back pain was gone the minute I opened my eyes in the recovery room. Other women have had pain though so use painkillers if you are one of those types.

This site helped me out SO MUCH so please browse the breast reduction FAQ's and forums:

Mine was $8,000 and covered by insurance 100% (they can cover between 50-100% of the total cost). I now have perky happy newbies and when I look back at my pre op pictures I get nauseated with how they look.

OH, take before your surgery pictures so you have them to compare for after surgery. You may think "man, I'm still big" but in reality you are not. I took weekly pictures of my breasts after surgery and you can definitely tell they are not the same size as they used to be.

You will not regret this surgery, it will ease your back pain so much! Give me a shout if you need to. :)

I went from a 38FFF to a 38C and wish I would've done it sooner. Before the surgery, you'll have your routine consultation with the surgeon, where he'll take before pictures, explain the process and answer any questions and concerns. The day of the surgery will be somewhat of a blur and there will be pain; however, Vicodin is great! My recovery took about six weeks but after that, things were fine. I don't regret it for one moment and love my new freedom.

The cost depends on your surgeon; however, in your situation, the insurance company may cover 100% of the expenses. Mine did.

there will be pain after surgery as they are taking away a lot of breast tissue. you may have a drain in each breast which would probabally be removed after 1 to 2 days. the pain will be worth it when you get to see your new breasts, i would say you probabally be sore for a couple of weeks good luck and enjoy your new look

I haven't had it done, but I know people who have had it successfully done. You must have rather large breasts, but it can definitely be done. Expect them to be very floppy like beaver tails whenever you aren't wearing a bra. Worst case scenario, the person doing your reduction may not do it right and you could have frankentitties. Otherwise, you will most likely be very happy. I'm not sure the cost, check with the local plastic surgeon.
