That is full BS and you know it. The Brits are quite capable of negotiating on their own. If President Bush was ASKED he should do what he can. In this case the US was not asked and gave no help. Making a statement of the obvious hardly constitutes a threat or even tough talk. It is what national leaders do in situations like this. Others have done the same so why focus on only one?

Your assertion isn't supported by Iran's continued resistance to Bush in the nuclear development confrontations.
To the contrary, by separating themselves from the USA when dealing with Iran, the British got their sailors back and the politicians in Iran garnered political support by standing up to the West (the USA in particular)

He didn't actually do anything. Blair negotiated the return of the sailors.
Bush is not responsible for it one way or the other. Britain didn't need us. Which is commendable. So allow them their credit.
