Everything else is identical, and I've got to choose based solely on their names? You realize that's a ridiculous circumstance to find yourself in. I guess I'd flip a coin.

You want a simple answer to a complex question. Impossible.
There are way too many parameters involved in making a decision. I know i will get burned for this but you know what I am not one to lie just so i can be politically correct. Honesty is ALWAYS the best way.
First why would i need the hire? front office? high name company in need of a "pretty" reception? then who presents better, who articulates better, who looks better and who is more attractive. Sorry but those are facts.
If I am looking for a diversity in my company I would hire Shaniqua ... if i need someone to collect money I would hire Shaniqua ... if i need someone to make coffee i would hire Elizabeth (cause Shaniqua would never do it) ... FACTS
If i need someone to take care of business i hire Shaniqua if i need someone to take care of the business people i hire Elizabeth.
As I said there are WAY too many pre requisites and requirements.
Question: Does Elizabeth have a British accent? ... and by the way ... Shaniqua IS a beautiful name.

strong question. one which has been already broadcasted in 20/20 and it proves that call concerns. maximum folk ought to employ the lady call Elizabeth over Shaniqua because Elizabeth sounds more advantageous civilized and specialist then Shaniqua. Shaniqua would properly be a recognition of a black or Hispanic or different races which inturn skill a lot less self assurance over them. this isn't a racial fact from me it is genuinely a fact and brutal fact of the society. So heres a twist to that...if those females went to a black or hispanic company then Shaniqua has more advantageous probabilities of being employed, vice versa.

I would certainly hire the girl named Elizabeth. I like the name Elizabeth, but the name Shaniqua is a ridiculous made up name. It is not African, and it is just a silly name. I think that there should be rules for first names.

Only the first letter of the name can and must be capitalized.
No titles shall be accepted as a first name: Duke, Prince, Countessa, Mr. etc.
The length of the name must be between 3 and 15 letters.
No one can be named after a U.S. state: no Montanas or Dakotas.

If all things were equal, I would probably offer both of them part time positions and later on,promote the one that is the better performer.

If all things truly are equal, and there is no difference between the two that would apply to the job, I would probably flip a coin.

here is a reverse, would you hire a Hillary, or a Condelezza? exactly!

beside with all the mixing and what not. Shaniqua (daughter of a celebrity) could be white and Elizabeth could be black.

im black and my name is Diane

The fact that they are both exactly equal is not realistic. But assuming they are I would either not hire either of them or flip a coin.
