I believe that with all my heart. There are so many posers everywhere. If you thumb through the magazines, you see a preponderance of articles about dressing for success. That is probably why there are so many people who know how to physically fit the role but have no idea how to complete the task. Not to sound judgmental, but sometimes it is embarrassing to listen to some of our leaders make speeches. They are well-dressed and look the part of mover/shaker, but fall short when they have to step out of the box to speak without a speech that someone else prepared. Then there are others who have the money to buy the accoutrements of success and pose as "classy" people, but they are crude and ignorant. It seems that a lot of people nowadays are only impressed with expensive clothes, flashy cars, lots of bling-bling, and nothing else matters. The reality shows are a reflection of this newfound vulgarity.

If you live in America, then yes you live amongst society that favors image over intelligence and skill. Take a good look at Hollywood, that will explain it all. Thank you and may GOD come soon to right the wrongs that have been done on this earth.

It depends upon whether you choose be the puppet or the puppeteer. Sure, some people work with their image if it is beneficial in gaining success for them. Others work behind the scene and become famous and rich... relying upon their intelligence and skill to make it and not so much their image.
Good examples of those we respect because of their intelligence, skill, strength and determination without concern for their image include Steven Spielberg, Bill Gates, Jack Welsh, J.K. Rowling and many others. We care more about what's on the people's minds than how they look, what they wear or who they're dating.

When a movie star, Playboy model, or lip synching "musician" makes millions for every movie, magazine cover, or lame song and a university professor makes less than 10% of that in a year, then you know society seems to favour image over intelligence.

I dont think so. Maybe this may just seem to be the case because the most read and most published persons in our society are the actors and actress, whose main selling power are their looks, but in the workforce it pays to have intelligence and skills, though looks is a plus factor.

Some people may see it that way. Hollywood...it does some crazy things to people. Look at all the "beautiful" stars who get plastic surgery countless times. I try to be as unique as I can...I don't like to participate in the latest fashion trends, I make my own identity. My boyfriend is extremely talented in music and sees things the same way I do. We don't even care. Material people can chase their treaures all they want, but I'm more of a "mind" person.

your right. Cuz britney spears shaving her head off took much of the screen and the fastest train developed by a train in France got just 2 mins. or for instance you never know that GM developed a car which costs 10 million dollars which runs on sea water but its in Germany. Anna Nicole did not deserve all the coverage that she got.

Yes, It is sad but true. Idiots are loved all the time for their image. Examples: Paris Hilton, Britany Spears, Lindsey Lohan etc. Their waste size is bigger than their IQ.
