Does it matter if I'm going to go to graduate school?

Well, I went to both a public and private college. The public college was very big, lots of students, and the teachers really couldn't give me the one on one time that I needed. To say the least I dropped out after only a semester.

I then after a few years decided to go back to school, and went to a private Christian college. I only had to go for 3 years though since a lot of my credits from my previous 2 schools (I also had an associates degree) transferred to this college. I really enjoyed my 3 years at the private college. First because the classes were very small, the biggest class I had had about 10 people in it. The professors really get to know you as a person, and not as a number or name. I was struggling in Math, and my math teacher actually called me one night before a test and wished me good luck, and sang that song from "Finding Nemo" that Dory Sings...Just Keep Swimming, and we had a good laugh. =) The counselors at private schools are also more personal and can customize your schedules to fit your needs better as well.

So it really just depends on what kind of environment you want/need in a school. I felt I accomplished more with the smaller school setting than I did with the larger school setting.

PS-as for the career...it doesn't really help you if you go to public or private as who hires you usually doesn't notice or care, but make sure you do go to an accredited school because they may look that up.

Good luck!

Well, if you want to be the head of a marketing team- Hartford does sound better then Delaware Community College per say.... on your resume.
You should go to the school for a good degree and background... if you go to Yale for say Fashion Design well that's just dumb... it doesn't matter if you went to Yale. If you went to Yale to be a writer or a mathematician... different story.

I went to Moore which is a $$$ art school and know for being in art. I could have gotten the same degree at a state school but I never would have been able to get a job. State school are not a good in the art field.

There was a study a few years ago that looked at students who got into Harvard. The ones who went to state schools did just as well as the ones who went to harvard. However, it is not true that the average student at a state school does as well as someone who goes to Harvard. Those who got into Harvard and did not go there had to work harder to make sure that employers did not think they were typical public university students.

Bottom line: Choosing Stanford over Berkeley may not pay off financially. Choosing Stanford over SJSU will.

The better the school you go to, the better the job you will get. Many top companies will recruit at Ivy League schools or schools like Duke or Stanford -- but would never go to a second tier public university. Going to a highly rated university also helps if you want to go to graduate school. A biology major at Yale is more likely to get into a medical school than a biology major at Slippery Rock. For him, the extra tuition pays off.
