5-year-old girl killed while riding her bicycle
Wash. (AP) - A 5-year-old girl was killed Sunday in Vancouver, Washington, after she was hit by a truck while riding her bicycle.
The victim was Selena ********** of Vancouver.
She died at Southwest Washington Medical Center of head trauma after the 11:30 a.m. accident.
The accident was witnessed by the girl's twin sister. It happened outside her home.
Police say the driver of the 1999 Ford F350 pickup truck that struck her, 31-year-old *********** Jones of Vancouver, was not speeding.
This is just part of the article. It went on to say she didn't have a helmet. She only died due to the head injury and would still be alive if she were wearing a helmet.

For once I won't actually make a smart comment here.
Unfortunately they are only speculating that by wearing a helmet would have saved her life.
It may have helped but you never know.
That really sucks though.

Crazy Chicken, my children are all in their 30's so if they are riding bikes, then they ought to be smart enough to wear helmets. It is sad that this happened, but when I was growing up, there was no helmets and we never died from brain damage, some of the kids might have gotten brain damage from the wreck, some of them acted like it, but none of them died from no helmets. When God calls you home, you just go, no matter how old you are.

Ohhh...that's so sad...I don't have children but when I do I'll make sure they wear helmets!

My son has all the safety equipment I can get him---they will not let me bubble wrap him...I asked...I so hate when parents do not look out for their children
