I have a great mechanic in the San Fernando Valley who's very honest, won't do more than is needed, and is really inexpensive (compared to most others). However, I'm looking for someone who's like that in the South Orange County, CA area (eg. Mission Viejo, Irvine, Laguna Hills, San Juan Capistrano, Dana Point, etc.).

Honda dealers are not that expensive; its only perceived that they are. Wesloh Honda in San Juan Capistrano and Norm Reeves Honda in Huntington Beach are two of the highest rated Honda Service Departments for customer satisfaction in the greater Los Angeles area. You might be pleasantly surprised by how competitive their pricing is and they both have built their businesses retaining customers through service not blowing them out by going for a one-time home run on repairs. Stay away from Flabadoe in Irvine--they are ranked last in the LA market area and they work hard to earn that ranking.
