B. They wanted to permanently destroy Germany's ability to wage war. Thus one of the demands of the Treaty of Versailles was that Germany could not have a standing army or navy.

Mostly B. The Allies did not want another war like the first world war, so they placed heavy restrictions on Germany's military capabilities in the Armistance. For example, they could not have any heavy machine guns, they could have no more than 100,000 troops in her armed forces at any time, etc, etc.

The Entente Powers along with the US wanted mainly to do B, however the way to do it was wide ranging. So you should really look deeper into the question and results of the talks between the Entente, Allies and Nations.
