Labor really isn't that bad, those last few pushes are a little freaky, because you start wondering if you can really do it. I was only in labor for 4 1/2 hours with my oldest and 6 with my 10 month old. Both deliveries were pleasant. Labor is kinda painful, but it's not so excruciating that you can't handle it. I did natural childbirth twice, by choice. It's normal to feel scared though. Just keep remembering that you can do it and focus on remaining calm, yes it does hurt, but not as bad as you think it will. And the pain comes in waves and there is an end to it when the baby comes.
I'll be thinking about you! You'll do great, focus on that!

I was terrified of every aspect of being induced last year. I was planning on going all natural, no meds no epidural. They started me on a pytocin drip and you don't notice a thing until you really start having close contractions. Then it wasn't working and they inserted a med vaginally that I read about and was so worried to have done. It was no problem at all, then the dr. broke my water and this is uncompfortable! It doesn't take long though. Then once the close contractions started I felt cramping type feeling again and again and I got sick and went for the epidural. At that point you are so ready to get it done that it was no big deal and I hate needles! Just relly try to do some relaxation techniques and imagine a great feeling or day or place. I just took my mind to a sunny day running with my husband and dog everytime it hurt and it really got me through it and then of course when you see and hold that precious bundle of joy you'll instantly be at ease and know all was well worth it.Good luck, Relaxation technique!

I was induced with my middle child. I liked it better that going into labor out of the blue. You can have a nice week...special just the two of you dinners, etc. Being induced also gives you time to get last minute things done around the house before the baby comes home.
As far as pain goes... Well, you have been waiting to be in pain since you got pregnant. You knew the whole time that this woud end in labor, which is painful and a lot of hard work. After all the pain and work and messiness, you get to hold your baby for the first time. Its all worth it at that point and the hard parts become a fuzzy memory.
Every pregnancy and woman is different, but I didn't notice any real difference between the labor I had when I was induced and the ones I have when I went into labor on my own. The induced labor was shorter, but that could have been because it was my second child.
Besides, you could go into labor naturally before Friday. I was scheduled to be induced on a Tuesday with my oldest child. I went into labor with her Monday afternoon. I ended up giving birth at a little after midnight, tuesday morning...8 hours before I was supposed to come in for the induction.

Almost 23 years ago they induced me in an effort to make my son leave the nest. It didn't work he still hangs around the house all the time.
Believe me I fought it and so did he. The midwife turned the drip right up ( we are in the Middle East- they do things differently here) and he came into the world kicking and screaming with rage.
Trust me it didn't hurt half as much as my eldest daughter who did it mostly on her own( pulled out in the end) and took 13 hours!
Friday will be a day you will remember for any number of reasons. The pain is worth it. It makes we women heroes. We go through all that for the sake of another and at least you won't have to worry about being caught out in labour hours away from a hospital!
Wishing you a wonderful Friday and a brilliant life afterwards.

I was induced with my daughter 6 months ago, it is nothing to worry about. I had a prostaglandin pessary, then one 12 hours later and delivered my baby 2 hours later !!
The only down sides I found was that rather than the gradual build up of contractions, mine started full on and intense, but the wonder of gas and air made it feel like I was watching someone else give birth !
At least you know that by the weekend you will have your baby in your arms and all thoughts of pain will be forgotten, and you wont have to endure a car ride whilst having contractions.
I know how you must be feeling, must be a bit like being on death row but think about your baby and all the things you have to look forward to, the birth is just a way to a whole new life.
Good luck and enjoy :)

Sam, calm down first. If this is your first pregnancy, I know why you're scared. I was fine unless I thought about it. I was also induced, on my due date. I woke up crying that morning, begging my husband not to take me!
I really had nothing to fear, and neither do you. My nurses were extremely nice and helpful. When you start feeling bad pain, you ask for medicine. They have something to get you through the beginning, called Stadol, and something toward the end called an epidural. If you're opting for natural childbirth, without drugs, I hope you took a lamaze class because I have nothing for you there. I took the meds, and I really am glad I did. They wore off a few times, and the pain was soooooo intense. However, when they kicked back in, it was great. I actually felt the pushing was a huge relief. It took my mind off the pain, and got the baby here quicker. You're going to forget everything when you see that beautiful face, trust me! I know. I was in labor for 17 hours, and really, I can't remember anything except for when my epidural wore off. Ask for the medication when you feel the slightest pain starting back up, otherwise, it may be too late.
You're going to be fine! I loved my experience, and was ready to do it all over again. It's something to treasure, for sure. Good luck to you! It's going to be wonderful!

Don't worry!!! I was induced... are you getting an epidural?
My labor was sooo fast for a first time preg. It was less than four hours from being induced that my daughter was born. They put a cervix dilator in the night before ( some kind of "insert" - not bad just a little uncomfortable like everything about pregnancy) Then the next a.m. I got a iv drip. Less than 4 hrs later - There she was - all gooky and gooey! And beautiful too!
Do not worry!!!! The anticipation is soooo much worse than the reality. SO go do something and STOP thinking about it.
Congratulations !!!!!!!!!!!!!! It will be wonderful !!

Being induced is just like having a squeaky plug pulled out.
It really is nothing to worry about.
I was induced the 1st time when 10 days overdue.
If you just have it in your mind that if you want a natural birth, and you get offered the entenox have it, all it does is make you not care about any pain, it doesn't make you feel out of it. Just think of the gorgeous babe you will have at the end of it all.
Good luck, and Best wishes.

I was induced with my third one. It was no big deal. Just like the birth of my other two only I needed a little help getting her here. My time form induction to delivery was only 8 1/2 hours, and it is like everyone says, once the labor is over you forget all the pain. My daughter was worth every bit of labor I went through. Until Friday, just go about everyday things like normal. Everything will be fine and you will have that sweet baby in your arms soon enough.

I was 14 days post due. Being induced will just speed up the process of having the baby. Just relax because in the end it is all the same. Good Luck and breathe deep.
