In NYC, the best clubs have a rope and the doormen allow entry to a select few based on appearance/fame/connections/tips etc.

Is the same policy in place for the best nightclubs on crowded satuday nights in Las Vegas? What do the pre-paid, "front-of-the-line" tickets available online buy you? If I wanted to gain entry to a club on Saturday night with 10 of my buddies from school, would we only need to be dressed right and have tickets?

Big groups of guys tend to be shunned at the door - I should know I went there 2 weeks ago with 5 buddies of mine. The passes you get on Vegas.com do work but you have to all be dressed up. They tend to let more ladies into the club then men. We met a bunch of women at this one casino and walked right in with them.

i watched a show on Vegas not to long ago and they said that for the clubs there are do's and dont's

Do: dress according to dress code or better
Do: purchase VIP tickets online via the club site (this will help you not wait in line so long)
Do: if you are with a group of guys...bring girls with you!

Don't: dress casual....shorts, flip flops, and tank WILL NOT get you in (this i think is a given)
Dont: Club hop...you will spend most of the nite in line waiting to get in

Most will take group reservations which will get you through the line, but you'll have to reserve a table for bottle service. Since its Las Vegas, keep in mind that most clubs don't even start to get warmed up until after 10 p.m.

All in all to answer your question, yes dress according to the clubs dress code or better, and if available buy VIP tickets (line wait is shorter, and separate from the regular line)

If 8 of your buddies are women, you won't have any problem. Clubs in Vegas rightfully assume that the more women there are inside the club, the more money men will spend. If you guys split up into pairs or so and find groups of women who outnumber you it'll be easier as well.
