because that would not get ratings. The goal of news is to sell ad space. So they only cover stuff that gets more viewers/readers.

Bill Gray is viewed as a hurricane expert, even though his forecasts have been woefully incorrect the past two hurricane seasons.
Although his work involves climate analysis, his specialty is not global climatology, and he does not necessarily study the same data that is studied by those who advocate a theory of man-made climate change.
The media does not ask Mr. Gray about global warming for the same reason that the media does not ask a specialist in Middle Eastern affairs to comment on geopolitical developments in Latin America or China.

Because the media are woefully ignorant of basic science, and fearmongering sells better anyway. That's why they are totally happy with his hurricane reporting. (Actually, his assistants have been doing the work on that the last couple of years.) They get to sell a few more papers with a fearmongering story about how many hurricanes are going to terrorize the Atlantic every year.

it's not politically correct to dis global warming....just as it wasn't Right Thinking to ignore the unanimous opinions in the 1970's that we were headed for an Ice Age......
read Michael Chricton's "Sate of Fear" for a good perspective....and wonder why the US Senate voted against the Kyoto Protocol 97-0 ( inc Clinton, Gore Fienstien Boxer and Kennedy)
