You have a 1% chance of getting pregnant. To my knowledge, it is as safe for your unborn child as the pill, which causes NO known defects or fatalities, despite what you might think or might have heard. I got pregnant while on the pill and did a lot of research and talked to a few doctors, but the shot may be different. So ask your doctor, too. That's an important thing to know.

It is a very very small chance that you can get pregnant while on the depo-shot, unless you don't get your shots on time and even that is rare. The depo cause your body not to ovulate fooling your body into thinking your are pregnant, so my answer would be no you can not get pregnant. Now if you are ttc if takes a while for the shot to wear off. When I got off the depo I still didn't have a menstrual until almost 9 months later.

I am also proof that you can get pregnant on depo. Luckily i found out a few days before my next shot was due. I thought I was coming down with the flu or something lol I was only 5 weeks pregnant at the time. I'm almost 15 weeks pregnant right now.

There is always the possibility of getting pregnant when using a form of birth control. The only thing that is 100% effective against birth control is abstienance (not having sex).. If you do happen to get pregnant while on a form of birth control, the obvious response is to discontinue use once you know that you are pregnant. As for side effects, that would be a question to ask your OBGYN or regular physician

Well i am on the shot, and there is something different about the shot than the other pill or patch or anything else.
the other medicinces basically prevent it from happening in the first place, but the shot lets it go and if a baby starts to form, THEN it kills it. so its kind of a hidden fact that not to many people know about. but all brith controls are 99.9% effective. which only leaves .1 percent chance for you get get pregnant, and since your on the shot, it probubly wont ever happen, rather than if you were on another kind of birth control where it could possible happen.
But since your on the shot, if you got pregnant, then it would kill the baby like i said. and if somehow it lasted [which is a low low low low chance] it would probubly have LOTS of problems if the birth control was still in your system.
hope i helped!

Both of my brothers were conceived while my mom was on depo. I don't know how normal that is OR if she is just extremely fertile. They were both healthy baby boys...

You can but it's EXTREMELY rare and usually attributed to not getting your shot on time.
