That is fine. Some babies never get to the bottle and go from breast feeding to a baby/toddler type cup. At 6 months babies can start trying some solids but there is no need to stop breastfeeding and change to bottle. Some people need to stop breastfeeding for reasons like returning to work etc but this is a personal choice and not a biological neccessity. There is nothing in formula that makes it better than breastmilk. In fact breastmilk changes in composition to suit the needs of the baby as the baby grows and is better for baby than formula.

I can't figure out why this is a problem. My 15-month old son is only breastfeeding (with solids and sippy cups, of course) and wouldn't know what to do with a bottle if I gave him one. Why would you want your child to take a bottle in the first place?

I'm right there with you. My 9 month old only takes the boob. I tried to give him a bottle also and he started laughing. I think it tickels his gums. I tried a sippy cup w/ my milk but he wont suck, he rubs the "sippy" part on his gums. So then I tried a regular cup and he loves it, he thinks he's a big boy. Of course he only drinks water out of the cup and turns to me for breastmilk once he's hungry. This probably did'nt help but I just thought I'd let u know your not alone.

considering the fact that your son replaced into 2 months early, developmentally, he's twelve months old. that's the age as quickly as I took the bottle from my 2 teenagers. My daughter gave up the pacifier at 4 months and my son never did take one. i could say that your son is satisfactorily old to have the two bottle and pacifier taken away. you will provide him formula in a cup. As for the chewing, permit him chew on the tops...the puzzling plastic won't chip or something, so it won't harm. in case you're taking the bottle away chilly turkey and only provide him a cup, he will determine that he does not might desire to chew on it to get fluid and he will quit chewing.

Its OK breastfeeding the first full year is so much better for them anyway... there really is no need for a bottle anyway!! start her on a cup. give her small amounts of juice to get her use to it. Forget the bottle!!!I have 4 kids. my first i breast fed 17 months. And Right now my last one is 17 months and still nursing. we are working on weaning right now.

That's the best thing for your baby. It's even ok if he isn't eating a lot of table food. Everything he needs is in your milk. But if it is driving you nuts try giving him a sippy cup or straw cup occasionally with formula (he's still too young for milk) It's best to move straight from the breast to a cup and skip the bottle all together. It's just one less thing you'll have to wean him from later.
