Ok so i'm thinking about getting a video ipod because i've had my nano for about a year now and itunes is currupt. so i heard videos are super nice so i was thinking about buying one of those. I already have money saved up for it because i was going to go to whistler this summer, but now i'm most likely moving so what's the point, so i just decided to get a video for the way down. I have a few questions though:

1. Which one is better the 30 gb or the 80 gb?
2. If you have a movie at home that you want on your ipod can you load it onto your comp. and transfer it to your ipod like picture?
3. How long does both 30 gb and 80 gb last?
4. Where's the best place to buy one? I've seen lots of good prices on new one's at craigslist. would that be a good place to get one?
5. how many songs does the 30gb and 80gb hold?

thanks in advance!

1 - 80Gb, movies take a lot of space
2- no, you have to buy them from apple. If you ever figure out how to do it let me know.
3. unknown they are to new. Highly recommend getting the extended service plan.
4. Be very cautious about people advertising cheap iPods. I bought mine directly from Apple.com and had it engraved.
5. A crap load. You average song consumes about 4Mb (some more some less). 80Gb / 4Mb = 20,000 songs.

Be aware that movies are HUGE files. My daughter download a movie off iTunes it took at least an hour and we have a cable modem. Songs take less than 30 seconds usually. Not sure what the file size is.

I suppose you are from US? so can't really advise on Prices as I am from U.K.

I am the proud owner of the 80gb video iPod (black)

Okay 80gb is waaaaay too much!
Black scratches badly
White can be purchased cheaper
I would advise on purchasing a beautiful acryllic case(~$40)
30 gb = 7500 songs
80 gb = 20000 songs
Have had mine since christmas and the battery last ~about 20 hrs but it is much shorter if you are watching videos(6.5hrs)
Sound quality is superb
The only real downside is videos
1) because You have to have a pirate dvd to actually burn it on a computer (as it is copyright protected)
2) you will need all movies in mp4 or mov format and most aren't so you will require a movie converter (converts into mp4 format and they cost ~$30-60)

There is superb sale on iPods and everything else in fact on play.com (in uk at least dont know about US)

movies take from 400mb to 2gb (depending on the quality) but what the chance of you having 40 movies and that of the best quality, I only have 1 full movie and it's 900mb (chronicles of Narnia) and 86 music videos (they take about 20mb-70mb)

The actual space on the iPod 80gb is 74.3gb and I have 68.5GB left so that includes 656 songs as well )))

hope that helps a lil bit!
