Jerusalem is in Israel, it has a Jewish area a Christian area and a Muslim area, so in answer to your question no you don't have to be Jewish.

No. You don't have to be Jewish to be an Israeli citizen, though I note that many people think you do :) I think the confusion arises because of the Law Of Return. This states simply that any ANY Jew can become an Israeli citizen. But many people think it says ONLY Jews can do this. Obviously there's a big difference between the two! I know several non Jews who went to Israel, fell in love with it, and are now happy Israeli citizens. The only complaint they had was over all the red tape etc, but I'd say this is common to many countries.

There are more than one million of arabes who are citizen of Israel, of course, they are not jewish.
Also there are a lot of chrstians, the main centre of the Bahai Religion is in Haifa-Israel, ect, ect.
I think the answer is very clear....I'am in he other side...I'm jewish but I'm not israeli citizen.
