Ya, it totally depends on the color.
Last year, a couple went to prom and she was in a bright orange dress (hideous, I know) and he had the exact same color vest on. EW!!!! This year, my beau and I are going in all black, except his vest is white. It looks really sweet... ya. As long as you don't pull a dumb-and-dumber scheme, I'm sure you'll look just fine.

If it is a light color like lilac or some of pastel.... you are in the tacky zone. If they are rich, dark colors like wine red and black you can tend to get away with it. Matching your tie and adding a handkerchief that matches(or just a tie) is a very common and a "safe way" to match without looking tacky or doing overkill with whole matching outfits. The matching is up to the color of the suit. If the suit is black with a jacket a vest would be ok.... if it is another color the tie idea is probably better!

GOOD LUCK (: hope this helps

i imagine the first vest would look the excellent, the shade matches the gown somewhat nicely.a lot more suitable powerful then the different ones. The others are too vivid and they'd stand out too a lot, ya comprehend? at the same time as that one matches the gown with out going overboard. :]

No that's cute.. I like that. Wedding parties do that. That's cool.

I think it looks more tacky if you don't match. Or depends why color is your vest and your dates dress.

I like matching better.
