When 9/11 happened, it was impossible to find an American flag for sale across the country. People had them on their cars, in their yards, at their office and hanging from their homes.

Why does it take an attack against our country to make people act patriotically?

I already had an American flag and it was fluttering in the wind on my flag pole that day.

Did I buy an American flag after the September 11th attacks? Yes I did. Did I buy it as a reaction to 9/11? Nope.

No, all they had at Walgreen's was the giant-sized Mexican ones. As far as patriotism, I ask myself: What would Jesus do? That's why whenever I see a big horde of Mexican flags, I unflurl mine and join them. Is this a great country or what? Only at Walgreen's. Thank you Sam, whereever you are. You were the mostest of El Repbublicanos. I did appreciate my Mexican flag came in a plastic shopping bag with an American flag silkscreened on it.

Me and my family made a flag by putting red, white and blue ribbons on our shed and decorating it with glow in the dark stars. I think that an attack on a country makes anyone who doesn't act patriotically seem like a traitor.

How well I remember! The only place in town to get a US flag was the local 99 Cent store run by a Pakistani family who had fled the terrorists there! Somehow somewhere they found flags, and sold them at cost.
Sometimes it takes an immigrant to really appreciate our freedom.

no i did not buy a flag

why does it take an attack to make people act patriotically?

Because when bad things happen, we are reminded of what is at stake.

When nothing reminds us, we forget, and loose memory of it.

Christianity goes through the same phases. People dont go to church because there is simply no reason to. They think that they have all that they neeed.
when bad things happen, they go to church, and seek god.
they only go to god when they need something.

we only fly our flags when we are reminded that this country still exists.

Nope, already had a few. But here in Hawaii we proudly fly our Hawaiian flag alongside of Old Glory. Yahoo needs to add it to their flags on the bottom of this page. Aloha!

I had mine long before 9/11 and fly it proudly every day in front of my home. My liberal neighbors never fly a USA flag.

I got one for my car that week. I also have a small one on my desk at work. It will stay there until this mess in Iraq is over & our guys come home!

No. The reason people did that is because they felt guilty about not caring about their country and taking advantage of our freedom & safety.
