Since we are the most successful form of government the world has ever known I would think it would be prudent of others to at least give it a shot-for their own good if for no other reason. Some folks on here actually believe that some people prefer dictatorship and totalitarian forms of society as opposed to freedom. I don't think I have ever met anyone in any other part of the globe that does not wish for personal freedom for himself and those he loves. What I have found are folks you believe that but think all others should adhere to a stricter form of existance that limits their ability to disagree. Its called control and has been a hallmark of most government and religious institutions for millenias. While being extremely emotionally painful at various times, our system still addresses and balances the wants, desires, and needs of its people better then any other.

Thinking so - doesn't make it so. I've traveled extensively and I can tell you from first hand experience there a very many people in the world who have absolutely zero interest in coming here. Mostly because of the arrogance of americans and their insistence the whole world envies us. Haven't traveled much have you?

Fortunately, not everyone thinks like you. A country cannot impose it's will or way of life on another. Each country and it's citizens will decide how they wish to live.

That's what George Bush doesn't understand.

America's way, in theory, is the best. Unfortunately, America's way, in practice, is pretty pathetic. There are dozens of countries that are better than America in areas like education, health care, employment rates, and common sense. Countries like Canada, Germany, The Netherlands, and Sweden, just to name a few.

Not necessarily. Iraq is proof of that. We toppled their government 47 months ago. Yet we are still there and our troops are still dying.

You can't force democracy on people. They have to want it bad enough to fight and die for it. The fact that Saddam was still in power indicates that they didn't want it or weren't ready for it.

And if you think "every one wants to be here", you need to think again. A lot has happened since 2000 to change that.

Depends on what you mean. If you mean individual liberty, yes - there's no such thing as imposing liberty, the North didn't "impose its will on" the South by freeing the slaves....

Absolutely not, they should live how they want too. The problem though, is when their way of life starts hindering ours.

Clearly not everyone is equipped to live "the American way." So maybe we need to let them live the way THEY choose.
