diapers, diapers, diapers :) and probably wipes LOL. those are the two things you will go through like crazy!!!! id probably buy some extra baby bath products. Wipes and bath products wont go bad, and diapers you can buy a few packs of size newborn, 1 and 2. and still be safe :)

Mom of 4 boys and 30 weeks with boy 5!!!

Diapers and wipes...I am due in about 6weeks and what my husband and I have been doing is each time we go to target or walmart we buy a pack of diapers and a container of wipes...only got 1 large thing of the newborn diapers and then we have got many size 1 and size 2 diapers....they should last quite some time....

I have also been cooking meals and freezing them so that when the baby and I come home from the hospital I dont have to worry about cooking for my husband and 10 yr old son...They can reheat it and still have a home cooked meal! I am also stocking up on canned goods so that if I need groceries it will just be stuff like milk or eggs that is perishable....all the other stuff will already be taken care of

Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy and your new baby!

Diapers and wipes! I can not express how badly you will need both of these. When I first brought my son home, I didn't know how to clean his bowel movements properly, and we went through some wipes. When buying the diapers in bulk, don't get them all newborn size. Get some in newborn, and the rest in size 1. My son was a little chunky around the thigh area, so the newborns left welts on his thighs. Pampers diapers are the best, they already have the scent of baby powder in them so you will not have to use or buy that. Huggies wipes, because the container is easier to replenish and use. Also, you will need some cotton balls or alcohol prep pads. You have to clean the navel cord with this and you want to have enough to carry in the diaper bag. Also, this is really important and can save you a miserable night. If you or your hubby/partner or lactose intolerant, the child might be as well. If this is the case, the soy base milk will keep the baby digestive system from causing gas and cramps. People blame colic for everything, but that is what it is. The regular milk might be too strong for the baby. I used mylicon drops for my son, and then switch his formula to soy based. No more gas and nights up with him screaming. Good luck!!

I would stock up on solid white onesies.. Those things were a blessing when my son was born. Maybe some diapers too. definantly wipes, you cant have enough of those. Also, bathing supplies. It seems that your child will be born during early summer, so generic shorts and a onesies will be your savior. I had my son in June of last year, and let me tell you.. The first few weeks were a blur. You really have no time to do much, like laundry and stuff.. So to have a surplus of white onesies and shorts, works out great! Just stock up on general supplies that you can use during the whole infancy. Baby bathing supplies, baby laundry supplies, diapers (I wouldnt go overboard, just for the simple fact babies grow fast), wipes, lotions, and diaper creme. Things you dont have to worry about running to the store at all hours of the night to get! Congrats! Its a blast, you'll absolutely love it! Another nice thing, have your friend throw you a baby shower, you generally get all that neat stuff at those! As a courtsey either throw another friend's baby shower, or have a huge thank you party after the baby is born and things have settled. I am planning on having a huge 1st birthday/thank you party for everyone for my son this year.

Diapers. My hubby would buy a package every week during my pregnancy, we had so many when the baby was born that they filled a closet! But it was really nice not to have to worry about them for about 9 months. I'd suggest only a couple packages of newborn size, then about 500 size 1. Wipes also, if you're Costco members I really highly recommend the Kirkland wipes, if not the Parent's Choice Walmart brand is my second favorite (then Pampers, and Huggies last).

I'd suggest a few swaddle-me blankets, they simplify swaddling.

Clothing really depends on how often you're willing to do laundry. I think that about 7 of each type of clothes is good (onsies, sleepers, outfits).

Here's another thing to stock up on: burp clothes. About 20 should be enough between the diaper bag and the house.

Diapers and formula (if you are bottle feeding) are great, but as a poster said before some babies are allergic. Make sure the baby can tolerate the diapers and formula before you buy a ton of it.

Wipies are fine and make less laundry, but wash cloths are cheaper and can be used for pretty much everything. You can buy them in bulk at WalMart or even the discount stores/dollar stores.

You will definately want plenty of blankies and crib sheets. You are about to have a font of grossness. Babies pee, poo and throw up all over everything. You will be changing the baby bedding every time the baby makes a mess on it, which may be frequently. I bought a lot of my baby supplies at the resale shop. Its less expensive, considering the baby will outgrow everything fast. You also know that the items will wash and wear well.

Bottles and nipples in various sizes. Smaller ones for the beginning, then those will end up being for juice and water. Bigger ones for when the baby's appetite grows and for formula and/or cereal.

Baby cereal. Get a couple different kinds. My kids were on cereal in their bottles at a few months old, but one couldn't have anything with oatmeal in it. Some doctors don't like you feeding cereal before 5 or 6 months old, but I think its all about the baby. If the baby is constantly hungry, she might be ready for something more filling than formula. It also helps them sleep longer at night. As long as the baby poops and pees as normal and doesn't vomit it up, its fine.

You will need a good size diaper bag, a car seat, a baby bath set, a swing and/or a bouncer. A pack and play is nice to have. I used my pack and play as a play pen, a portable crib and as a bassinet...really useful, especially if you will be taking the baby visiting.

The most important thing to have in stock is common sense. Babies were being born and raised for many millenia before anyone put a MD in their signature. You are the parents and you know your child!

You might also want to think about how you plan to raise the baby. Talk to each other about things such as how long you will let the baby cry before picking her up, will there be a set routine and a set bedtime, will you allow her to sleep with you and so on. Its good to hash these things out before the baby is born so that things will be easier on all of you after.

Bottles are a must. they more you have, the longer you can hold out on washing them. Also stock up on burp cloths, and diapers. You will go through so many diapers it is not even funny. Sams club allows you to buy in bulk whick is great. Also have plenty of pajamas and onesies. New baby will spit up so much you can barely keep up with the laundry. And last but not least, be sure to buy some baby laundry soap. Congrats on the baby, and good luck

CONGRATULATIONS!!!

I just had my baby 2 months ago, and I am a first time mom as well ---

From my experience....

DIAPERS is a MUST (size newborn and size 1)...lots of it, i had a pack of 40 diapers in it and I went through it in a good week or two.
Wipes, Baby Powder
BIBS and BURP CLOTHS (lots of em)
clothes (onesies pref)
Dreft (laundry detergent)
Those gown blanket things are great!
Bottles
Formula (depending on if you're breastfeeding or now)
Baby Monitor

and food, esp frozen food or food that is already made and you freeze it.... and you'll need lots of snacks for yourself.

Im sure theres things that I probably forgot to mention but those are some of the important things to have.

Diapers (I love Pampers Swaddlers!), and wipes are essential of course, but your daughter will also need lots of other things. Onsies are best for newborns, nightgowns or pajamas for bed, socks, blankets (thin ones), bath products, soap/shampoo, towels, washclothes. Sheets for her crib, a car seat, of course! If you are breastfeeding you need nursing pads for you and some lanolin nipple cream (some hospitals give you a tube), a breast pump is nice to have and a few bottles, if you are formula feeding have a good supply of bottles and liners, also a good bottle brush for washing them. You can never have enough burp rags for a newborn, we used cloth diapers. A swing isnt essential, but they love them, also bouncy chairs. These come in very handy in the future. Hopefully you will get a lot of this from family and friends, it is expensive getting everything ready for a new baby. Congratulations and good luck!!!

Sure, you can stock up on diapers and wipes, that would help. But what you really need to stock up on is food for you and your family! Start filling your freezer with easy-to-prepare meals - casseroles, lasagne, chilli, whatever. Just pop it in the oven and you don't need to think about dinner. Have plenty of boxes/bottles of juice handy. If you drink bottled water, get lots of that, if you are breastfeeding you will be insanely thirsty for the first few weeks. Cans of soup are good ideas, too.

Baby washcloths. Two or three dozen. They're spit-up wipes, snot wipes, help-my-boob-is-leaking and-I-cant-find-pads wipes, drool wipes, oops-pee is-everywhere wipes, preventing the need for ooops-pee went-everywhere wipes, I-just-ran-out-of-wipes wipes (also good if your baby doesn't tolerate the commercial wipes, my mom only ever used water and cloth on me). Ohyeah, and they're washcloths, too. Sure, you could use recieving blankets for all of those purposes, but a washcloth goes in your pocket, and takes up way less room in the washing machine.
