I know what you're saying and referring to. So many of us have that one real experience of love and it stays with us. It's hard to shake, even years later, and nothing else seems to be the same.

But there comes a point when you finally find someone who you love DEEPER than the first one. Then you truly understand what love is all about. Don't give up hope. She really is out there.

Most people's first love is basically the first time they get laid, to put it in blunt, rather cruel terms. They have been conditioned through movies to see love as sex(Titanic, Underworld 2, 300, and more movies than you could shake a stick at.)

Love, to teenagers(who are the main group for 'first love') is a quick relationship hookup at a party, a few weeks later you do it, and you're stuck in a relationship.

Some(like me and my fiance) realize that sex is not the whole of 'love'. Those that realize this are better off and will actually feel first love. Sure, sex makes you closer and makes you appreciate eachother, but there are other things that you can do. My fiance and I have been together since our Junior year in HS and have had a wonderful relationship since then. This is my first and only love.

Maybe the first is the only authentic one because the first is our soul mate? Or we have conditioned ourselves to think that we should all stay true to one partner, and after we have 'broken up' we feel like we would be cheating to choose another and love them the same ammount?

Au contraire, my friend....the first one is but a mere foreshadowing of the true & deep love that will someday burst upon your heart!

I have to disagree with that. My first love was nothing like my love now.

If you feel this way, then I feel for you... every emotion is fresh... what you seem to be missing is your innocence... I have had several wondeful relationships...
