Electing Bush twice was about as self destructive as a nation we can get. So is everytime you shop at walmart.

The US is only committing suicide as much as the vast majority of the world is, which I dare say isn't very much. Some people need to get a grip... I mean, come on! We, the USA, provide over 40% of the UN's annual budget. When you see the UN doing something, 40 cents on every dollar spent by them has our name on it. No other nation can say that. Not one.

Not really, because it's taking the rest of the world along with it. We are committing suicide by being the world's biggest consumer. As a country we are supersizing like a balloon being filled to over capacity until it bursts. A little less hot air would serve us well.

They'll probably just say I'm young, naive, and overly optimistic - which, other than being young, I am rarely - but I think that in American politics, we get into this kind of fatalistic mood about the future of America and about the state of our democracy every once in a while, but then we are able to pick ourselves back up. In fact, I think a little bit of agitation is necessary to get us back on our feet; as long as there is still open discussion about what we can do to better ourselves, then we can still is hope for the future. I think our country has the potential to fix itself through this cycle of renewal, but it will take drastic changes in our government, specifically in the change of leadership, to end this dismal period of American politics.

you have a point. I dont think we are doing the world a favor, as longhair mentioned we could be very good. ( a little bit of agreement with you )
And we are very good in alot of ways.

I wouldnt phrase it as suicide but perhaps self destruction...the USA is having a social meltdown of sorts.
And teh world sees it and says, man look at all the divisive and contention problems with teh USA, maybe its a good place but do I want to be around people like that.

Thats how I see it anyway.

We are slowly killing ourselves by allowing corrupt leaders to strip away the constitutional rights of individuals.

I don't think that it is doing the rest of the world a favor, because we seem to be taking most of them down with us.

Not at all. We could be very beneficial to the world, if we wanted to be. But we seem not to want to.

If by suicide you mean allowing Islam to flourish in America,
then yes I agree with you.
