I have a nephew that was adopted twice by his stepfathers Once when he was 8 & the second when he was 26. His last name was changed & everything. Now he is 36 & he is changing his name legally back to his first last name (biological fathers name) There is no age limit. True story!

I think 16 is too old. I wasa out on my own at sixteen and I pretty much knew what I was doing. Just buy him a law mower and you won't have to worry about it.
