There is a pool, good food, and it's close in to the sights: Cannery Row, Fisherman's Wharf, Carmel by the Sea, etc. Further, guided tour buses will come there to pick you up...recommend the Movies Made in Monterey guided tour if your 2 yo can handle a four-hour bus tour.
