80% of humanity, the religious folks, don't need to ask the meaning of life, the church tells them....the supernatural explanation. But the rest of us can't swallow religious dogma, because there's no evidence. Nobody can prove that there life after death, that people are tortured or rewarded after life or that there's invisible spirits running around.
I've come to two conclusions recently:
1. Life has no meaning
2. Life has a million meanings.
First, there's a certainty that death and annihilation awaits not only you, but the Earth in general. It's an astonomical certainty that our sun will supernova and leave the earth a burnt crisp, not to mention all the other extinction level events around the corner.
Second, the million things that give us meaning are the pleasurable experiences we can conjure up during the short period we are here on the earth, in the form of the relationships we have with our kids and other people, and the 'housekeeping' types of purposes. What i mean by that are the curing disease, ending hunger, improving literacy, reducing crime, preventing war, helping other kinds of things.
So the bottom line is, we only have a temporary meaning to life, to reduce pain and increase pleasure, other than that everything is lost to oblivion.
To be or not to be? "To be" is temporary and "not to be" is inevitable.....

Life is stage where act, a field where we play; it's a bowl of emotions and tradgedies, and a monster with a million heads, each featuring sharp fangs. It's a rocky ground with ditches, and a surface full of knives. It's world full of eggs shells, some are broken, some are whole and sturdy. Life is a typical school bully; it taunts and it hurts us, it annoys us. Life is a maze, with flickering lights and mirrors. Life is a riddle which we must solve the meaning to; why it holds us and why it kills us.

42 is the answer to the ultimate question, which was forgotten over the million years it took Deep Thought to come up with the answer. There is no "meaning" of life, but the purpose is to propogate the species and have the greatest genetic influence over your species both during your lifetime, and for the duration of your species. This applies to frogs, cows, humans, carrots, amoebae, virii, and all other life equally.

Life is bad and good and there are no definite answers to being in this fluctuating state, And the best part is that life is greatest when there is pain, adversity and suffering. I suppose every second and moment of life is a meaning in itself the summation of it is impossible as every moment is in it own a triumph of living

My meaning of life is experiencing the incredible, powerful, superabundant, joyful love of God to me and loving him back....all made possible because he brought my spirit back to life through what Jesus did for me. (Of course there's lots more to it but this IS just Yahoo answers after all.) But I will say, that I truly am experiencing Him and truth really is setting me free and I am one happy, content, excited girl.
