How do you apply that mineral makeup in a way that it doesn't look cakey in some places on my face? It tends to stick to the oils on my face, even if i have just washed and put on an oil free moisturizer.

It's important to moisturize before you put on your makeup. If you have combination skin avoid your T-Zone and put extra moisturizer in the areas where you are dried out. Wait a few minutes so your skin can absorb it.
I'm not sure what kind of makeup you use, but companies like Bare Escentuals has a primer called "Rever-Upper" which helps the makeup stay in place, and it evens out your skin. If you're not using BE, check with your company if they have a primer for your makeup.

Try to dab your skin with a towel after you apply your moisturizer (or make sure it's completely even & not overdone). Make sure you shake off your brush well & do light dabs in the area you're applying it. Then lightly swirl it in circles. It works for me when I decide to wear it, but I prefer a bronzer/moisturizers vs powders. I do love the minerals eye makeup though.
