If you already learn the clarinet, and you have been playing for a while, it's not really a phase you are going through. They should recognise how passionate and interested you are in music, and I wouldn't use the line 'But you bought him one' because parents get REALLY sick of that. Just ask them nicely and explain all the upsides of it, such as the fact that you will pay for it. If they say no, don't go in a bad mood with them because that will make your chances of getting what you want even lower. Basically, just ask them and be sweet. Hope this helps x

Ask if you could talk to them because you have something on your mind that you think is important. Then say to them that you appreciate the fact that they have allowed you to experience the lessons about the clarinet and have done well in that endeavor. This is when you say that it has sparked an interest in other instruments and the one you would like to learn about next is the guitar. Add that you have done some research and know where there are some inexpensive ones to buy. This way they know that you appreciated their efforts before, you really like that they allowed you to learn, and you want to learn more so much that you have already begun researching it. Good luck in your efforts. I do truly believe that music is a wonderful way for people to release stress, have fun, and express themselves. I have played french horn for 30 years and guitar for about 25 as well as piano, trumpet, cornet, flugelhorn, and mellophone. Keep learning. You will really appreciate that one day. *Two Thumbs Up!

Tell your parents that you would like to learn a new instrument and that your really are passionate about it and that its not a phase. Or just print out everything you just wrote and give it to them.

um i think you should get your brothers guitar fixed, learn to play a bit and kind of prove to your parents that you really want to do this. If you dont enjoy it anymore, you didnt have to buy a new one and if you want to continue then buy an acoustic one.

Try sitting down and telling them. What is the worst thing that can happen? They might even like the idea.

say you want to learn a variety of instruments. you've already shown them that you have dedication through you're clarinet playing. if its your own money i cant see them making to much of a fuss. just convince them that u really want to learn to play.

borrow your brother's guitar for awhile and prove you're really interested.. you can play electric guitars without all the distortion effects.. if they see you using it consistently, they might help you buy an acoustic guitar of your own..
