Why else, they don't want to fess up about their racism because of the negative comments they will get. They are trying to save face. I know what whites say behind closed doors and it certainly isn't how wonderful black people are. I myself am racist, towards other races besides blacks. People just want to be PC rather than honest and lie to us and even themselves. However, the lips don't lie, hook these people up to a lie detector test and they would fail miserably. They do always say, "I have black friends", but do they ever view them as equal? If so they certainly view them as different. Why else do we always see white blondes on TV? Because white men 'prefer' white women. But isn't that racist?

I am white & I'm not a racist & if you don't believe me, I could care less. I worked many years in a male prison where 95% of the inmates were black & I knew that before I was hired. If I was a racist, I'd never have worked there. I was a line supervisor in Food Service & I enjoyed my job. The inmates who worked in the kitchen, did the cooking, baking, cleaning, etc. I never asked an inmate to do something I wouldn't do myself. The ones who called me "racist" when they didn't want to do as instructed were the blacks. I knew I wasn't, so I ignored their comments. That was a comment they made to my co workers & me on a daily basis, but those who genuinely weren't racist, just ignored them. That "racist" bit is getting a bit told by now. I was taught that we were all created equal & I taught my sons the same as well. I am well aware that blacks fought willingly in the Civil War. Your point being? Your comment about income sounds as though you are a "racist" yourself. Gee, could that be? Many of us in this world, get educated & get better paying jobs. Some just sit around thinking the whole world owes them a living. Food for thought, take it for the way it was intended.
BTW: Have you listened to Bill Cosby speak in public lately? Now, there is a racist.

Well, I'm sure most of the white people who say they aren't racist aren't, including myself, and just a few are but deny it. I've read several of your questions, and quite frankly, *you* strike me as racist...it works both ways, you know. About your "same gross income" comment, I really don't know if there's a gap between the average white person's income and the black person's income, but there are factors other than discrimination involved, at least according to Bill Cosby. Yes, black people have been abused, but the black people who act like victims are actually damaging efforts to eliminate racism. Someone who acts like a victim is more likely be victimized. The message being sent is "I'm different, I'm vulnerable, etc". I am SO glad I live in a place (eastern Canada) where this is pretty much a non-issue. Color-blindness is a beautiful thing!

I completely agree that some white racists are fairly nasty. whether, that's via fact we are living interior of u . s . of america the place whites tend to be huge-unfold for being racist. In Europe, and the midsection East that's totally different. i'd would desire to declare that for the period of Europe, Muslims (no longer all, yet a stable ingredient) are very racist, enormously against Jews. i've got spent plenty time in the two France and Denmark, and many Jews in those international places actual require police secure practices particularly situations via fact they're in many situations objectives with the help of Muslims. that's totally authentic in Copenhagen, the place the Muslim inhabitants outnumbers the Jewish inhabitants. So yeah, on an analogous time as whites are very racist, basically keep in mind that Muslim are additionally very racist particularly situations (and NO, i'm no longer asserting that Muslims are a race, cuz they're a faith, yet they are no longer white).

There is no such thing as race.
Racists divide the world into groups, into Black and White (which your very question showed).
We're all humans. It's people that are so caught up in trying to define groups and draw lines that is prolonging this ridiculous age in our civilization that we need to move beyond.
Heck, the civil right movement wasn't even 50 years ago yet. Many people in the older generation grew up where it was normal for "colored" and "whites" to be segregated, along with the prejudices that came along with that on all sides.
Only time will heal the damage racism has done, and continually viewing the world with regards to black and white are what are damaging our country.
How do you view Barak Obama? Is he Black or White???
You soon see the falacy of looking at the world this way. There are no such things as races.

By the response of most people to this question, I can see that they didn't really read your question completely.
Why can't you phrase the question the way you did?
To say: "Why do all White people say they aren't racist" is not to say that all White people are racist. In other words, Some of you may not be racist, but "why do ALL of you say that you are not?"
All of you so called college educated people out there don't even have simple logic?
And have you noticed that the racist on here don't have e-mail access???

Well my friend, I'm white, obviously, and yes its typical that I'm going to say I'm not rasist, but if you dont believe me, you should check out my husband. He's black, spanish, indian, AND white. They only thing he doesn't have is asian. But I do feel just about everyone has rasism underneath it all. I don't care for, but not that i don't LIKE or i HATE, a certian nationality, which does make me a rasist in some small form. Black, white, whatever, we all have it. You do too. The thing is though, what do you do with it? Do you fight it or encourage it? THe problem I see is tere are too many people encouraging and it breeds. We as diferent cultures and backgrounds need to supress our inner beasts a little more often.
And for the record, my family is very poor. I'm alright, but I don't own a house or anything or a new car. I really think its what your background is, how you were raised, that teaches you standards of living. My husbands dad, indian, he came from a poor family, yet is doing quite well.

I think it's a defense mechanism. You're right; very few white people will admit that they're racist. The truth is, very few white people are not racist. If you're white and grew up in America, you're most likely racist or learned to hide it really well. I really hate these kinds of conversations because they're depressing. No matter what we do, we will never be quite human to white people. Having said that, I would not like to live anywhere else in the world. I was able to get an advanced degree, had wonderful well-paying jobs, raised children and grandchildren. However, although I am a professional, I was always reminded in the most subtle and non-verbal way, that I'm black and female. Thanks for bringing me back to reality.

Maybe alot of white people are ashamed to admit if they were raised by parents with a negative attitude about black people and also don't want to admit if they ever thought bad about a black person. I think though, whatever race you are, most people really do want to get along with each other. It's so sad that some people think differences between us is a bad thing. We all make the world an interesting place and there's plenty of room for everyone. Thanks for asking this question. We all need to talk about this more I think!

That is a good question. If you prejudge some one of the opposite race before you get to know them then your are racist.
And cause you didn't burn any crosses, doesn't make you a racist, that bull. Its how you treat other people. Stop lying. Most white people are not knowledgeable on the plight of black people. we were not born with a trust fund in our name.
