HAHAHA a district of Belgium banned grilling in an effort to stop global warming...

"Local officials in Belgium's French-speaking region of Wallonia have a new tool in the fight against global warming. They have approved a tax on barbequing. Experts say that up to 100 grams of carbon dioxide are produced during barbequing.

So Wallonians will have to pay 20 euros — about 27 dollars — each time they fire up the grill. And the authorities aren't kidding around when it comes to enforcement. Officials say they will use helicopters with thermal sensors to detect illegal grilling."

I can only imagine how much more CO2 that enforcement helicopter is going to put out than the total grills per patrol.

Fox news is a credible source just like CNN... what you are really upset about is that they chose to run this story while CNN would chose to sit on it. Fact selection is where bias lies, not in the facts themselves.

Sorry but it is a 1th of april joke. That foxnews emitted it says more about the quality of their correspondents in Europe than about the global warming.
You should wonder what is the value of their other news about Europe. I've already read some twisted ideas about Europeans and it does not wonder me anymore when Fox has such idiots that call themselves reporters.

I wonder if officials in Wallonia have heard that Soviet scientists predict global COOLING by 2012.

(the newest hypothesis is that increased solar radiation is causing global warming, not CO2, because other planets in our solar system are warmer, as determined by NASA)

Do many people realize that the Alpine glaciers, even in their diminished state, are probably bigger than they were during Roman times? Or that in the 1950s and 1990's, global temperatures dropped.

Then, maybe they'll pay people to use their grills. I can just imagine the officials imploring people to do their utmost to curtail global cooling. They might have billboards saying:

"Cook a steak. So much is at stake"
"Every beautiful girl loves a man with a big grill"
"Charcoal a chicken, or global cooling will quicken"

I am a Liberal and somewhat of an evironmentalist and no, I would not give up my barbecue grill.

Are you 100% sure this story is not a hoax -- Officials say they will use helicopters (which use a good amount of fuel) with thermal sensors to collect 27$ fines. That does not make sense.

Since global warming is a myth, if I had a grill, NO WAY!

Why don't people remember the hysteria in 1974 when scientists claimed that we are just about to have another ice age due to global cooling. These things a cyclical and it is crazy to be hyper about it.

Besides, I don't believe ANYTHING that comes out of Gore's mouth. He is a hypocrite and a fool.

they can have my grill when they pry it from my cold hard t-bone.

great point about the choppers. Add to that the 18 clown cars they use for the police raid, 22 EU news trucks that will come to report on the evil griller, and the fire dept vehicles called to extinguish the charcoal.

Beauty of local gov't, isn't it? A community wants something and their elected officials do it. It's a local issue, not the whole nation of Belgium. Nothing wrong with a community voting for it.

I believe in the premise of global warming but some of the proposals intended to control it are just plain ridiculous.

I would go down fighting -- with a honey barbeque country-cut pork rib in my mouth.

I'm volunteering to put a methane extractor up my bottom to help combat my green-house emissions. Care to join me?
