The most extras in an innings in the history of world cup were the 59 extras conceded by Scotland against Pakistan in the 1999 World Cup match played at Riverside Ground, Chester-le-Street on 20th May 1999

The team who has conceded the most extras in total since the competition began in 1975 (excluding the 2007 tournament) is Pakistan, who have conceded a total of 1,209 extras (71 byes, 471 leg-byes, 462 wides, 205 no-balls) in 53 matches. This also gives them the highest average number of extras per match of any Test nation, at 22.8.

The other Test nations, in order of total extras conceded, are:
- India (1,081 at 19.7 per match)
- Australia (1,040 at 17.9)
- West Indies (927 at 19.3)
- England (737 at 14.7)
- Sri Lanka (735 at 16.0)
- New Zealand (705 at 13.6)
- Zimbabwe (621 at 14.8)
- South Africa (483 at 16.1)
- Bangladesh (141 at 12.8)

However, it is interesting to note that many of the "minnows" over the years have much better averages than the Test nations. For example, before the 2007 tournament, Canada had conceded only 81 extras at 9.0, the Netherlands had allowed 103 at 9.4 and in the 1975 tournament East Africa allowed 34 at 11.3.
At the other end of the spectrum, Scotland had allowed 139 extras in just five matches, an average of 27.8, mostly due to the fact that they have had two of the most expensive innings in World Cup history (59 vs. Pakistan and 44 vs. Bangladesh, both in the 1999 tournament).

West Indies holds the record for giving more extra runs in a test match other than any other team in the world. They gave away as many as 74 runs in a single innings way back in late seventies.
