I don't know what the name of the book was, but I remember that it had trolls in it. I know that it was about them not wanting to take a bath. It was mostly a picture book. It was meant to explain to kids why they should take a bath. It showed the trolls in their town and showed how they were without a bath. To describe the animations in the book, I'd say kind of close to Tim Burton, yet somehow lighter in color.

Please help me find out the name of this book. A friend of mine says she thinks she knows what I'm talking about, but the book is out of print.

You're right! I remember that too!!! They rejected a lot of hygenic things.

Too be more precise, the illustrations are more along the lines of where the wild things are.

I think it may be one of the Thingumajig books, maybe the "Thingumajig Book of Manners"? http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/0824980107/24680e-20 If not this one, there are others by these authors about the Thingumajigs.

This rings a bell for me, as well. Was it possibly about more than just specifically bathing? I think I remember a children's picture book about a boy going to a troll village where the trolls rejected a variety of key hygienic activities, such as bathing, brushing one's teeth, and wiping one's bottom after using the toilet. I don't know what it was called, but perhaps this will help someone else figure it out. In my mind, the illustrations remind me more of Maurice Sendak ("Where the Wild Things Are").

If all else fails, my reference is a website where you can pay a $2 fee to post a "stump the bookseller" query, where the fee is deductable from the cost of buying the book once it has been identified.
