The Iron Maiden-
The Iron Maiden was used primarily in Germany, the most famous version being the Iron Maiden of Nuremberg. This apparatus was essentially a large container, shaped like a woman, equipped with two doors with adjustable iron spikes.
The Judas cradle-
The victim was first stripped and then suspended over a jagged or pointed pyramid. The torturer, using ropes and pulleys, was able to raise and lower the victim so that the point would penetrate either the anus, the vagina, or the scrotum. Using these ropes and pulleys, the pressure ranged from none to the total weight of the victim's body.
The Interrogation Chair-
This chair was built of iron and equipped with either wooden or iron spikes (which could be heated up from behind). Also called the "Confession Chair," this chair inflicted unbearable pain to its victim.
Branks-
Also called Scold's Bridle, were metal face masks that some women were forced to wear. They looked like an iron cage. All a husband had to do was accuse his wife of nagging and the mask was put on. Women who disagreed with their husbands, who were found guilty of cruel gossip or of any other minor offense had to wear the Branks. The Branks usually had a tongue depressor with spurs or sharp edges.
The Breast Ripper-
Cold or red-hot, the four claws slowly ripped to formless masses the breasts of countless women condemned for heresy, blasphemy, adultery and many other “libidinous acts”, self-induced abortion, erotic white magic and other crimes.
