OHHH Enjoy it while you can. I suggest sleeping when she does, you will need to be well rested for when she's up all night!
It's hard for me to remember, but I think around a month or so she should start staying awake more during the day. Babies need tons of sleep, keep that in mind.
Also, if you haven't already, go to www.babycenter.com It is a great site for new and expectant parents. Message boards, charts, everything you could need.

Usually around 2-3 months, they start being awake more in the day. Newborns usually have their days and nights confused, and generally just sleep a lot.
Get the book "Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child" and read it while your baby is sleeping. You'll be glad you did, once your baby is NOT sleeping!
Good luck, and enjoy these peaceful moments! Take this time to get your house in order and work on her scrapbooks, order the birth certificate, send out baby announcements, etc. In a month or two, you will have NO TIME for yourself!

At about a month they start to wake up more and from then out more and more. Till they are a month or two they should be getting 16 to 20 hours of sleep a day. Once she gets older you will be wishing for the round the clock sleeping.

Enjoy it while it lasts.
My daughter started sleeping less at 3 weeks. Then it was a nightmare to put her back to sleep.
If you don't feel like you are bonding, hold her while she sleeps. That way, you will feel connected & when she wakes up she'll know that mama is right there for her!

It's okay. That's totally normal, and she needs to sleep. She's just little and that's probably all she did inside of you (except at night, of course, when she kicked you awake). They wake up in a few weeks, but the sleeping A LOT lasts for a while. You should sleep, too. :-)

Oh it will end, and you will wish she was sleeping again! She is growing so much right now that she needs her sleep. Don't worry, you are bonding everytime you hold her, feed her, change her. She knows your voice, she knows your smell, she knows you. Enjoy the break while you can.

She wakes up to eat right??? If not, get her to the ER immediately!
Otherwise, this is what babies do. Eat, sleep, poop. But they can sleep through the pooping and changing.

It "improves" gradually with age. Some children still nap when they are 4.
then it comes back when they are teenagers.
