Why do you want a security system? The factory system that comes with the car has the alarm mode if someone enters the car without unlocking the doors using either the key or the remote. Then, the car comes with the immobilizer system so even if they do break in they can't start the car without a key that has the chip in it to match it to the computer. The hood won't open without getting into the car so a separate alarm for the hood is useless.
the only thing you get when you buy an aftermarket security system is a vibration sensor that theoretically senses the vibration when someone smashes the window or goes to tow the vehicle and then it sounds the alarm. At no additional cost, you get the benefit of having your alarm go off every time a big truck or car with a loud exhaust drives by.
If you are concerned about the car being stolen, get a Lo-Jack--at least they'll find your car after its been stripped. Otherwise, skip the alarm as you're not getting anything other than a vibration sensor.
hope that helps

I bought a VP last year and I added the security system, not through Honda but a private business. It was a little cheaper that way. I did it because I got a better insurance rate!

Yeah, pretty much the same place that most guys would take an extra three inches. But then again, I am pretty short. I might get more action if I added three inches to my overall height. Unless I take the three inches downstairs, but then walk around without pants or underwear. Of course if I do that, I'll probably end up in prison, and I really don't want that kind of action. So, I'll just be three inches taller, please.

I wouldn't. The factory and dealer installed security systems are a waste of money compared to the quality of an after market alarm for even less money. Take your car to a shop and have it installed professionally.

you should be able to get a custom security system installed for less than that. it is just another dealer markup where over 40percent of it is profit
