I don't want to influence the answers I get, by answering it myself, but do want to say that I don't like the use of it, myself.

After 32 answers, I want to state my opinion, for anyone else that reads this.. Being pregnant is nothing short of a miracle. Whoever demeans it, or makes light of it needs to think of what their mother went through carrying them for 9 months. I do think using preggo to describe a pregnant woman makes light of one of the most wonderful things we can ever be a part of; giving life. Thank God for it. I am a father of 3 beautiful, smart, healthy kids. Erin, 11 Alex, and Matthew (twins) 8, and couldn't be happier with my kids. To all you that found this question interesting, and compelling enough to answer, I hope you can find as much joy as I have, and cherish the moments that you and yours share, that pass all too soon. If I could go back and share one memory of them being babies again, it would be that nap on the couch, with them laying on my chest. My little ones.. :`-)

I kept trying to choose an answer, but kept leaning towards ones that matched my opinion.. Since it was hard being impartial, and being torn between some great answers, I'm putting it to a vote. Thanks for answering, and have a great day, y'all!! ;-)

I have 3 children and absolutely loved being pregnant, it's atime when you bond with your unborn child and is one of the most serene times of my life. I enjoyed everything about being pregnant and knew the time was so short and to enjoy it as it goes so quickly, i'd have heaps more if my partner would allow it. The words that people say like preggo i can't say i've heard until i joined on here but preggers yeah and it never really bothered me i don't think it makes light of the situation but i think it throws in a funny/playful element. Try not to think too much about it as i'm sure people don't say it to annoy or offend.

Spaghetti sauce - it reduces the value of the experience to something common and unimportant. Not the fact that another life is coming into the world and the experience should be highly valued and esteemed...alas, I'm getting ready to go into another subject.

I find it kind of lame. I dont see how it's shorter in that it has 2 syllables, just like pregnant does, so what's the point other than to make a joke..... a completely unoriginal and obnoxious joke :P

Doens't bug me, though I wouldnt' be surprised if it does bug other people. "Knocked up" bugs me though!! Makes it sound like a teenager in the back of a car!
Everytime I say "preggo" my hubby says, "that's spaghetti sauce". HA. I think he means PREGO.

I personally find the use of anything like preggo, preggers, pregs, etc. irritating. It comes across as immature to me and sounds flippant. I always have this image of a young, giggly, immature girl saying words like that.

I don't mind those types of pregnancy words. I don't really hear them from anyone else other than my sisters and usually its "pregnoid" or "preggers". To me they're just fun words of saying that I am what I am...pregnant.

Yeah, it bugs me too. It makes it sound like "uh oh...you're preggo" or something. Reminds me of a phrase you'd use if someone mistakenly got pregnant.

Prego actually means "please" In Italian. I don't find it annoying. There are other words that pregnant women should worry about besides the word prego. Like, stillborn, induced labor, college fund, ect...

Hallo. I'm italian (from answers italia) and I read this strange meaning you give to that word. "preggo" doesn't exist in italian, we use "prego" that means "please" and in Italy we haven't any spaghetti's souce with this name... How can you marry a pregnancy woman with a italian word? Mah...! Have a nice day.
