Economics is not a true science, because it cannot do controlled experiements.

In a chemistry lab, for example, you can add compound X to solution Y over and over again. As long as the scientist controls the environment, the outcome will always be the same.

There is no way for the Fed, for example, to do controlled experiments. It cannot raise interest rates over and over again with the same economic conditions.

Therefore, economics is a social science rather than a hard science.

Macroeconomics is a social science because at its basic level, this discipline studies human behaviors.
Economics is the study of how individuals decide to use the limited resources around them.
Macroeconomics pretty much has the same emphasis, just on a bigger scale e.g national economy or economies of different countries.
