Yes, it is disrespectful to wear flip-flops to church or anywhere else you hope to make a good impression. Taking a little extra time with your appearance is a way of honoring a person or an event - if you look like you made a half-hearted effort to dress then people will sense that you are disrespecting them. I know you wouldn't mean anything by it, just wanting to be comfortable, but sometimes it's hard to keep track of what sort of impression we are making, even if only unconsciously. To me flip-flops are sort of like cut-off shorts or old tee shirts - not appropriate for a social occasion, and not flattering either.
Remember those girls who got booed because they wore flip-flops to the White House to meet the president? How embarrassing!!
Wear pretty sandals instead - they can even be thong-style or greek style and flat if you want but they should be dressier shoes, decorated or beaded - not $2 plastic flip-flops, those should be reserved for the pool and hanging out. Payless and Target sell some really cute sandals for a good price.
Hope this helps.

I'm gonna say it depends on WHEN you go to church.... If you go to a Saturday afternoon mass, flip flops all the way. If you go on Sundays, strappy sandals at best but never flip flops. I wouldn't say it's disrespectful, but I do think people would wonder if you really wanted to be there.
Saturday afternoon is Saturday afternoon. But when you get up on a Sunday morning just so you can go to church, most people wouldn't roll out of bed and throw on whatever.

I guess so. Flip flops are beach wear and you don't show up at church in a bikini. So I would say no to flip flops but you can ask someone in charge there about the rules.

I was taught that it doesn't matter what you look like, it's the going and giving that matter!
Come as you are!!!
Oh and to the person who noted bikinis are not acceptable at church, I happen to live on an island and tourists come in allllll the time in bathing suits. I am just glad they are taking some of their vacation time to worship with us, I could care less what they are wearing!!!

No way...I think that God cares A LOT more about our hearts and whether they are focused on him than what's on our feet. On the other hand, you want to look your best simply out of respect for the God of the universe! I personally don't think that it is (disrespectful) at all, but it has to be a personal decision. Whatever your conviction is, go with that.

Sandals are strictly casual wear items. They are a poor choice for anything beyond the beach, the mall, or summer time outdoor activities. Most people just don't enjoy looking (or smelling) other people's feet.

I think it depends on how liberal your church is, if not you'll probably raise some eyebrows.

As long as they aren't like all sweat-marked & icky, and they match your outfit. Then I don't see why not.
