They only need better marketing.

Domestic cars are built every bit as good as the Japanese makes. But marketing has many people convinced that the Japanese makes are better,

You only have to look as far as the Japanese section of Yahoo Answers to see my point.

If the Japanese cars don't break, why are so may people here asking questions on how to repair them? If domestic cars don't last, how come there are so may questions on how to repair 15+ year old domestic makes.

If the Japanese cars don't break, why do the dealerships employ skilled mechanics? Anyone can change oil or rotate tires.

General Motors now has a standard 100,000 mile warranty. If there vehicles were junk, they would go broke doing the warranty repairs.

Another thing to consider, most Japanese vehicles sold in the U.S. are actually built in the U.S. Check the Vehicle Identification number (VIN). If it starts with the numbers 1 through 5, it was built in North America. If it starts with 1, 4, or 5, it was built in the United States. Check the links below and you will see where these American made Japanese cars are built.

Why should one of these cars be built any better than a domestic car built in the United States. Are the Americans assembling these cars any more skilled than the ones building the domestic models. I don't think so.

It's all marketing. They have lots of people fooled that their cars are better. If you give the domestic models an honest look, you will see they are just as good or better. Only with the Japanese makes, the profits go out of our country, anyone else hear the big sucking sound?

You better hope so. The American auto makers pay out a lot of taxes on the salaries to its employees and the employees spend the money and pay taxes again. So it would hurt the economy if the US auto guys went down.

The old big 3 will regain their status. It may not be the way it was, now that we have a global economy but they will be there putting out quality cars and trucks.

I hope the American public realizes that the US car is our bread and butter with 1 out of every 6 jobs depending on the transportation industry.
