f(x) = 1/sqrt x + 3x = x^(-1/2) + 3x

so:

f' = (-1/2)x^(-3/2) + 3

Now, plug in 8.

f' (8) = 2.9779... approx

f(x)=3[x^(-1/3)]+3x
f'(x)=3(-1/3)[x^(-4/3)]+3
f'(x)=-1[x^(-4/3)]+3

f'(8)=47/16
